Just like our breads, our handmade cakes are baked from scratch (no mixes allowed!) and these indulgent delights are all derived from our trusted family recipe.

This simple yet delicious sponge is filled with Grandma Mary’s special secret recipe so it was only right we name it in her honour. It’s been a true blessing within the Uncle John family, enjoyed by both adults and little ones alike.

You’ll find sweet spices of cinnamon and rich layers of moist carrot sponge in our carrot cake. How do we manage to achieve this? We grate 1/2lb of fresh locally sourced carrots into every cake we bake.

A cake for coconut lovers everywhere. Fluffy, light and indulgent this cake is packed generously with fresh coconut and finished with shredded coconut flakes on the top. Reminiscent of the coconut trees in Labadi beach in Ghana, this is one of our most popular cakes.

Two layers of buttery shortcake makes our apple cake rather special. Lovingly handmade using a sprinkling of cinnamon, sweet spices and packed with fresh bramley apples. We enjoy it with a scoop of ice-cream or hot fresh custard.

Our traditional Ghanaian meat pie is lovingly handmade from scratch onsite in our bakery.  Each buttery shortcrust pastry is deeply filled with corned beef, onions, tomatoes and lightly sprinkled with black pepper and Ghanaian spices. We never use artificial preservatives, additives or colouring.  

The pies are best enjoyed heated in the oven for that flaky crust experience.

Heating instructions: Preheat oven to 160 C. Place pies on a baking tray and heat for 10 -15 minutes checking half way through until piping hot.

Don’t worry if an oven is not available. The pies can also be heated in the microwave for 2 minutes or until hot.

Suitable for freezing up to 2 months.
